Opening Night is Near!

The old case Mill is looking fantastic, and almost ready for tomorrow night's opening! A lot of hard work has been put in to getting the 10th 'It's A Case of Art in the Mill' ready for the big night ... but as always, it is worth it.
We look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow night. And if you can't make it to Opening night, make sure you drop by over the weekend ... we'll be there!

Eva Rasmussen - Artist Statement

For Art in the Mill this year I am not following any particular theme. There will be a variety of Lino prints and etchings, both representational and abstracts. I usually look to my natural surroundings here on the Granite Belt for inspirations.

Julie Salmon - Artist Statement

My love of drawing and painting ordinary people doing everyday things has inspired the body of my work this year; people at work and play. Mingled amongst them are my flowers, chooks and local scenes, many influenced by early autumn tones.

Margaret Oban Dowe - Artist Statement

During ten years of It's a Case of Art in the Mill I have been an exhibitor several times and am always inspired by the fun we share, by the other artists and their exceptional work, and, by the appreciative support from our 'fans' old and new, from near and far.
So, for our tenth birthday celebrations I have mostly used the exciting medium of pigmented ink on watercolour paper. Exciting because it is immediate and unpredictable - a bit like living by the sword really - there is no knowing what will happen when the ink hits the paper!

Albert Verschuuren

Here are some great shots of Albert hard at work in his studio. Albert is a master potter and is sure to have more great work at this year's exhibition.

Alba Conti ... and the 'Big Foot'!

Meet Big Foot!

These gorgeous little creatures have been inspired by the Argentinian 'Yomos' - little creatures who live in the mountains and create havoc! This new 'Big Foot' range are the Yomos' granite belt cousins ... and are also here to create havoc!
Each Big Foot is hand made from clay and then fired in the kiln.
They look forward to meeting you at 'Art in the Mill 2010'!

Sue Jurd - Artist Statement

As this is the 10th birthday of "it's a Case of art in the Mill" I will be exhibiting an updated version of all the various mediums I have used during those ten years.
I will have silk paintings, some with thread enhancement, acrylics and mixed media.
I have not followed any particular theme, but all my works will have a local feel as I love to capture the essence of the Granite Belt.
Ten years of exhibiting at the "Mill" has been a very rewarding experience.
I have enjoyed every show, developed some long term friendships, and hopefully progressed along my art journey.

Maggie Brockie - Artist Statement

My passion for sculpting with clay and an increasing awareness of the vulnerability of Australia's native animals are the inspiration for my work.
I aim to express this vulnerability, the character and essence of these gentle (and not so gentle) creatures.
For 'It's a Case of Art in the Mill' 2010, I have created realistic forms, some incorporating natural bush wood, of our 'common' species, and the critically endangered Bilby.
All sculputres are bisque fired in a gas kiln. Under glaze colours are sprayed or airbrushed onto their surface before a second firing to 1130C.
